Lucas Asis

“ A journey through Mexico with Agave Spirits “

Lucas Asis, worked as a bartender in LA for 11 years and began his journey in the world of agave spirits about 6 years ago. In 2020 as with most bartenders, both of his jobs didn’t survive the shut down, So he started to share his passion for agave spirits and cocktails online as a creative outlet. Today his goal is to use his platforms to be an advocate of traditional agave spirit production. Lucas splits his time between the US and Mexico visiting producers, bars, distilleries and constantly learning about this incredible spirit. But more importantly taking the time to ask producers, how to honor the culture and the history of agave spirits while giving credit to the producers and sharing their story.

Niki Nakazawa

‘Indigenous Self-Governance and Mezcal Production in Oaxaca”

Niki Nakazawa is the United States-born, Oaxaca-based co-owner of the agave spirits brand NETA and host of The Nectar Corridor/El corredor del néctar, a bilingual Whetstone Radio Collective podcast that features interviews with mezcal producers, conservationists, and farmers in Mexico. Since making her home in Mexico in 2007, she has worked across creative disciplines as a promoter and producer of music, art, film, food, and drink.

David Suro

“The true celebrities of the agave industry”

David Suro, renowned tequila connoisseur and owner of Philadephia-based Los Catrines Tequila & Taco Bar, returns as a seminar speaker for a third year to highlight the culture and tradition of tequila-making.
